Board of Directors
Paul Burns, Board Chair
Rev. Paul Burns developed a passion for Angaza Nuru from its beginnings when Paul was serving as Pastor at Priest Lake Presbyterian Church. Paul was ordained as a minister after completing his Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and served as a full-time pastor for 12 years. Since 2009, he has earned a Doctorate of Ministry at Western Seminary and has coached ministry leaders and served as a denominational leader. A published author, Rev. Burns is the creator of the GPS Spiritual Inventory and the founder and executive director of Soul Metrics. He lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, two children, and his dog, Chuy. He is excited to help shepherd Friends of Angaza Nuru through its inaugural years as Board Chair, and will act as ambassador to ministry teams in Texas.
Crystal Caviness, Vice Chair
Crystal has played an active role in the Angaza Nuru ministry since 2012, serving as a leader with the original U.S.-based team in Nashville, Tennessee, before relocating to North Carolina in 2021 and expanding FAN to that state. As vice chair, Crystal is a liaison between the Kenya leadership and the U.S. Board, supports the board chair with strategy and day-to-day operations and is the ministry lead for the FAN N.C. ministry team. Crystal is a professional communicator, with more than 30 years as a content creator. She is preparing for her fourth trip to Kenya, where many friends and people she calls family live.

She has an extensive compliance and regulatory background in the healthcare field. As FAN Secretary, Lisa is responsible for communications and for keeping all Board minutes as well as maintaining a copy of all FAN legal documents.
Laura Rottmann Bradford, Treasurer

Nancy Loudermilk, Director of Education

She was able to take part in the Journey to Kenya 2 in 2018 and is anxiously awaiting JTK3 in June 2023 when her husband, Jon, will accompany the travel team. Nancy’s background is in the world of compliance and regulatory work in the auto auction arena. She has recently retired and believes that God has called her to her role as heading up the Educational goals FAN has set.
Judy Achieng, Director and Founder
Judy Achieng is the founder of Angaza Nuru. After learning of the poverty and lack of resources of the people in Bodoi, Kenya, where her father was a pastor, Judy started the ministry in the U.S. in 2011. Since its inception, Judy has been an instrumental member of the Angaza Nuru U.S. Steering Committee at Priest Lake Presbyterian Church, and is now a member of the Friends of Angaza Nuru Board of Directors. Judy’s role as a FAN ambassador includes building relationships to further the mission and serving as a liaison to ministry leaders in Kenya.
