Friends of Angaza Nuru is committed to addressing food insecurity among children in Lower Bodoi through a dedicated feeding program as well as helping the community as a whole through our new Chicken Farm initiative.
Friends of Angaza Nuru remits funds each month to Angaza Nuru in Kenya so that Director Joseph can purchase food and cooking supplies for the team to feed the children on Saturdays. The program is open to any child in Lower Bodoi, organized every Saturday. Parents of children who are benefitting from scholarships are expected to contribute once a month to the effort, whether by cooking the meal, serving, or carrying food supplies to the church. Since 2012, 130,000 meals have been provided! The Saturday Feeding Program has grown to be a large community event, including weekly games, sports tournaments, learning opportunities and bible study — feeding hearts, spirits and minds as well as providing a weekly nutritious meal.
